Richard Yarrow is Co-Founder & Head Teacher of Yarrow Cookery School.


Richard’s love for cooking began early, attending the Orchard Cookery School as a teenager before training professionally at the renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, where he completed their full programme with a strong grounding in seasonal, sustainable cookery.


From there, he honed his skills in one of Scotland’s top restaurants and worked across some of the finest lodges in the Highlands, gaining a deep understanding of Scottish produce, hospitality, and the realities of professional kitchens.


Richard’s approach in the classroom is calm, kind, and quietly confident — designed to make everyone, no matter their skill level, feel relaxed and at home. Whether you’re brand new to cooking or looking to refine your skills, he’ll guide you with patience, humour, and the belief that everyone can cook something delicious.


One of his personal favourites? Chicken souvlaki with homemade pitta breads — proof that the simplest dishes can be the most satisfying.
